Cold Feet? Here Are Some Ideas That May Help
This time of the year, most of us in the U.S. and Canada are a little cold. Cold temperatures make cold feet, and if the body is cold, it will divert warmth from the extremities to keep the brain and the core warm.
For some people, the problem is not just that it’s winter. Their feet are cold all the time, regardless of the temperatures. Cold feet can be a chronic — and super annoying — problem.
There are several factors that can make a person experience the sensation of cold feet, including:
- Raynaud’s Phenomenon — this also can make your fingers cold
- Diabetes
- Circulation issues, particularly as we age
- Stress or anxiety
- Anemia
- Nerve Disorders
- Hypothyroidism and/or Hashimoto’s Syndrome
If your feet are cold all the time, your first conversation should be with your doctor. Even though it seems like a minor problem, your cold feet may be a clue to your physician that there are other issues that need to be addressed in your body.
